D600 & "kit" 24-85mm 3.5/4.5 VR

Thanks to the many who have responded.

Had not seen the 3 lens comparison from Shangri La. Looks like the 24-85mm 3.5/4.5 VR is a credible performer, but of course the venerable 24-70mm 2.8  is a better lens (though at its price it SHOULD be!).

Can some of those who are using this D600 (or D800) combo show us some photos? (Another post by Ron Trees does some of that with D600 24-70mm 2.8 combo.)

I am not looking for prize winners (but that would be great as well) but for how the lens performs in low light, mixed light and shadow, and with tonal variation as well as color rendition and "sharpness". Is the lens vignetting, and how much can we see it in a photo? Are there corner fall offs in clarity/sharpness, and what can we actually see in real world photos to demonstrate this? Have some close ups? Portraits? Landscapes? City street shots? Shots of the same subject form the same distance at 6 or so different "lens sizes"?
