About To Jump To The D600: A Few Qs Please

I'm with another DSLR system, and am about ready to purchase the D600 and two lenses.

I've scanned very lightly the User Guide, but I still need some real world experience to answer a two questions-

1) If I'm reading right, when operating the camera in Manual Mode, Auto ISO can be used to compensate automatically for changes to either aperature or speed so as to maintain a correct exposure. Is that right?

2) Can the Main Command Dial be programmed for Manual Mode so that it controls aperature instead of speed, and the Sub Command Dial controls speed instead of aperature?

Thanks for any answers you can provide.
