I'm not sure I quite understand what your needs are. Are you after a camera that now does video, or something to replace your 50-200? Something more lightweight for hiking or the best possibly capability for shooting birds in light?

Before I went to Zimbabwe, I decided to get a little HD panasonic camcorder, a HC-V700. I am really pleased with it. great zoom and sound, and the screen shots from it are good enough to print in some cases. such as this one:

As a comparison, this was taken at full zoom with my E-620 and 50-200 (may also have used my 1.4, can't recall).

And this is the same lion from the same distance as a screen grab from the video (cropped either sied as it was originally widescreen:

I would think the Panasonic superzoom camera, like the FZ200 might tick a lot of boxes for you too..
