Does NEX 6 PDAF lessen number of pixels dedicated to imaging?

I'm the first to admit my ignorance on sensor physics so if this is a dumb question please forgive me.  As I understand it, a number of the pixels are dedicated to the new NEX6  PDAF system.   Are these pixels included in the 16MP count and thereby lessening the actual number available for image duty?  Or, are they perhaps in addition to the 16MP photo pixels?  I am just curious to find out if the actual picture output is really less than 16MP.  I have one on order for the purpose of keeping the new collapsing lens for my walk around lens on my NEX 7 with my initial plan of then selling the body.  Now I'm considering keeping the 6 and selling the 7 So just want to get as much info as possible.  In the end it will come down to the actual tested image quality though.  Now I'm rambling so I'll shut up.
