Is the D600 kit lens considered a good lens?

Re: Is the D600 kit lens considered a good lens?

I faced the same choice. I actually have a number of primes, plus the 70-300 VR, but was debating whether or not to get the kit zoom with the d600.

I got it, and I'm glad I did, personally. It's a good, not great, lens. A solid performer. I mainly got it for afternoons when I'm out with my kids at a park, and not really sure which focal length I'll be needing.

When I got my d600, I gave up my DX body and lenses, including the Tamron 17-50 f/2.8. I'm glad I got the 24-85, as there are definitely days when I want the coverage.
