I agree with the above advice.  The EF-S 17-55 f/2.8 is a wonderful lens on the 7D!  It takes a lot of great photos for me!  I bought it used for $850, and IF I were to ever need to sell it, I feel that I can recover all if not most of what I paid for it.

Buy what works BEST for the camera that you have NOW!
