Exposure Compensation in Manual Exposure Mode is a contradiction of terms...

I've seen similar posts many times wondering why exposure compensation is not available in manual mode.

The obvious answer is EC in manual mode is a contradiction of terms.

Exposure compensation can be defined as the photographer over-riding the exposure setting that the camera calculates to be the proper exposure.   In manual mode, you are already doing that by setting the exposure yourself.

Looking at the exposure meter in the viewfinder shows the photographer what the camera 'thinks' the proper exposure is.  If you want to use exposure compensation in manual mode, you can achieve the same effect by simply dialing in a change to either iso, shutter speed, or aperture to move the exposure meter positive or negative from what the camera determines to be the proper exposure.

Can it really get any simpler than that?  You can do it without even removing your eye from the viewfinder.
