All New Cameras listed in here... hope this is right place.....Canon 350D question

Hi Guys, I have a Rebel XT camera (350D) Firmware v1.0.3 and I am using Windows 7 Ultimate 64bit software on my laptop.  I found some forums that discussed how to make the camera connect to windows 7 and it now shows up in my hardware list when I plug it in ...I have had the camera for 7 years and had not used it much and just went through a tutorial that talked about using your laptop as you take pictures to check the quality.... I thought it was good idea so dug around found the original CDs that came with the camera and installed all the software then went and immediately updated all of it on Canon site for Win 7.  Problem was every time I connected the camera and asked ZoomBrowser to goto camera I would get an error [Camera Windows] cannot connect to camera (something like that ) so I uninstalled everything thinking that perhaps the lastest greatest was too NEW for my camera and then put back all the original software and now it does not try to connect to the camera. So I called up Canon Tech Support and was told that you CANNOT connec this camera to Windows 7 because it is TOO OLD.... even tho you can clearly see it connect and responding in Device Manager of Win 7.  Does anyone on this forum have any experience with this? I would like to take a picture and have it show up on my laptop screen for analysis....  Hopefully I am not too late with this OLD camera.

Thanks,
Ron
