I'll give my input on the C41 black and white film out there.  I've been using the Kodak brand and am extremely impressed with it.  Lots of exposure latitude.  As noted I'd hand it over to some place that can process/print it accordingly.  I found a Wolf location still open in my area and they turned around nice, true black and white prints(without any hint of color tone).

I like the Ilford XP2 Super C41 film.  Great latitude.  I rate at 200 and find the grain very fine.  And I often rate at 1600 asking for just a 1 stop push and it turns out great.  Very versatile film.
