Could Sony add a liquid crystal circular polarising layer to the mirror?

circular polarising layer to the mirror? how about ND???


That would be extremely cool if possible. One big advantage would be the elimination of getting a polarizer for EVERY lens diameter. You could also add polarization to lenses that cant easily achieve it - fisheye and mirror lenses come to mind.

Hmm...could regular Neutral Density be done this way too? Built in ND and Polarizing - that would be seriously useful.

Light loss is a big hurdle and the SLT's already take a hit from that direction. Still, it's good to dream. The best advances start with an idea.
