It's not a process problem - I only ever shoot RAW with the Nikon. It's a processing problem. I'm trying to find something that doesn't create a dull, lifeless, muddy image from the RAW file, or some pre-sets that get the RAW back close to the JPG rendering as a starting point.

This is my biggest complaint with the X100.  There is no way to replicate the settings that create the OOC JPEGs like with every other brand of camera I've owned that shoots RAW.  Bundled RAW conversion software that comes with Nikon and Olympus allows you to convert the RAW images to JPEG without touching any settings that match what the camera produces.  If you do this with Fuji's software you get a completely different looking image.  None of the color settings in the Fuji conversion softwae match what the camera produces.  Very frustrating.
