Canon 450D and 10-22mm went swimming

Happens to the best. Glad to hear all is not lost!

Luckily the only camera I dropped (and broke) was an old Fuji F11.

The sad economic truth is that no matter how good the 450D was and is it is not worth repairing (but you can get a used one). The 10-22 is definitely worth getting checked out for water damage to make it work as new again.

No dslr will just continue working after a dive. They all need at least a good rest to dry, but in the long run there may be water damage that will shorten its life.
