Oh, there is something nobody has mentioned yet. This is the moment you choose a system, not just a camera. It's good to have a feel for the strenth of different brands.

Pentax is very good, world class, in prime lenses. Pentax zoom lenses are good but not the best money can buy. Pentax never had the fastest auto focus so this is not the brand to choose for sports or action photography. Legacy manual focus glass is widely available at bargain prices so Pentax is great for experimenting and learning on a budget.

Nikon has a very good flash system. Any brand will be fine with one flash but when setting up multiple flashes Nikon has a good reputation. Choise in lenses is great if you can afford it. Some bargain autofocus prime lenses are available.

The more expensive Canon gear is very suitable for action photography. Some bargain autofocus prime lenses are available. Choise of lenses is great if you can afford it.
