I was also out at first light to sit and watch the local Kingfishers.  Managed some decent enough shots with the Bigma but would be nice to have something longer to reduce cropping.


remember that the 600 has to so much monger reach than the bigma. The gimmick is that I had observed the habits of this bird; so I went in the hide with the tele and a rice bag to stabilize it (better than a tripod) and I prefocused the lens exactly on the branch were the bird was supposed to come. I wait a couple of hours and... at leats he comes ! As I said the only issue was that the remaining light after sunset, so the last shot is at 1/60 only at iso  800 - I never go beyond iso 1000 to preserve image quality. The shots are a bit cropped, too (but not that much).
