Re: Carl Zeiss Lens

One reason for this is that there is no detectable focus shift so what I see at f2.8 I get at say f5.6. Too many primes lose out on the D800s because they are out of focus when stopped down from full aperture due to focus shift, and it shows in 36 MP. None of my Zeiss lenses show focus shift.

I have old adapted Contax Zeiss lenses (28,45,85,135/2.8 and 50/1.4), which exhibit small amounts of focus shift when stopped down. However, I learned exactly the focus ring rotation needed to compensate for each aperture by playing around in live view for an hour or two: now I don't have any focus shift anymore.

Try it, you might be surprised what you can do.
