Dear all

What is the best software around that improves digital picturs (I have the Fuji 602) for people like me that do not have any knowledge in this subject.

I would like to find a software that in a touch of one button does everything automaticly

Thanks

Photoshop!

Wow, you say, but that's very difficult software.

Yes, maybe, but there a lot of interesting automated features (like auto-level, auto-contrast) and even better: on the internet there are actions that you can download to get this or that effect and hopla, you have your one touch of a button software.

Of course, PS is expensive, and I don't know how the actions support is in PS LE or Adobe Elements?

No such animal, however, I think Vtie's (from Nikon talk forum) "Sharp Control" might be close to what you are looking for. It's free and you can download it here:

with a tutorial on how to use it here:

PhotoImpact has an autocorrection that does contrast/brightness balance, saturation gamma, etc... all automatically at the click of a button and it has a batch function to do a whole folder of photos at once.

It's very easy to make custom filters for each of these (just adjust one image to your likeing and save the filters) that you can then apply also in one click. All in real time. It's great, easy (very fast learning curve) and much less $$$.

While it's certainly no Photoshop, DCE AutoEnhance from Media Chance is not bad and does offer some control, or you can just one-touch it. They allow a 30 day trial download: http://www.mediachance.com/dce/index.html ... chas

I'm guessing you were replying in general rather than to my note since Sharp Control is free......

You might want to try photocontrol. Photocontrol is written by the same programmer as sharpcontrol. It does almost everything needed to improve photos and is free. The interface is fairly intuitive. It can be downloaded here:

Here is a thread discussing photocontrol.

DCE AutoEnhance comes in 2 flavors offered on the link shown. One has a free trial period, but the more basic one is absolutely free forever. This thread aroused my curiousity, so I went outside and shot 3 rainy day photos of my neighbor's dog across the back fence using a "sports scene" mode. The photos are poor, but that was part of the idea. Then I processed them using the free DCE program without making any manual adjustments. The results shown below have the original photos in the left column and the auto adjusted photos in the right column. Nothing here is remarkable, but the adjustments did improve the photos, and since the program is free, try it out. It might be what you're looking for to help get started.

The dog's name is Bailey, and he sometimes moves pretty fast. That's partly why I chose to use my camera's never before used "Sports Scene" mode.
