Excalibur 1600 or Britek PS-300

I have the Excalibur 1600, 3200, and 6400 for over 2 years no problems. A friend had some of the others and said under weeky steady use, studio and location for a year they were not sturdy and falling apart.

I'm looking for some economical studio lights, I can get both 3
light packages for about the same price? Any thoughts on helping
me out?

Can you tell me a little about the Excalibur 1600's? I have not been able to find much info on them.

I heard that they use a standard 60-watt light for a modeling light? I like the fact that they are cheap to replace but that seems a little weak to me, Will they work through a 20X20 soft box?

How is construction? I know they are made of plastic?

I have a small studio set up in my house, and I will mostly be doing portraits and glamour shots. I was looking for a 3 light setup, Main fill and background/hair light.

My budget is around the $400.00 mark

Any suggestions

I have a pair of PS-300's and have been happy with them. The only thing they don't do that I would like to have is more adjustments on the light output. But for what I paid for them I am not complaining.

I had used the 1600 on a 24x36 softbox and a 45' umbrella for a fill light about 7-8 feet. As a main light you may have to be a little closer. Three lights in a small set should be fine.
