D30

You are smart. D30 is the best buy you can get. How much did u pay for it?

D30 is better than D60, which in turn is better than the new EOS 10D, in terms of color rendition, metering/flash metering accuracy. I have used them all and this is what I have found the hard way. I wonder what Canon is now thinking in terms of image quality?

Have fun with your camera.

Respectfully I must disagree with you there. The ETTL on the 10D is much better than it is on the D30 and I find the colors on the 10D to be more accurate as well (definitely not as vibrant when compared to a D30 but when you compare the picture to the original scene, I believe that the 10D has a more accurate reproduction of the original scene). That being said I loved the colors that my D30 produced but with the 10D I get more accurate skin tones.

Still, bang for the buck the D30 is absolutely fantastic. It produces really superb images and I doubt you can find anything on the used market that even comes close to it in terms of price/performance.

Cheers, Joe

Oops. Not really. I'm guessing you haven't gotten to know the new model quite as well as you'd need to to make a statement this broad.

I recently purchased a used D30 and I absolutely love it.
Yes, I loved the D30 too. If you can live with the resolution, the very limited focusing system and the "velvia"-style colors, it's a great camera.

You can get accurate colours on the D30 if you shoot RAW, convert using 16 bit Linear and an action like Pekka's. It's a lot more work though!

About the only reason I would trade up from my D30 to a 10D is a spending itch I have right now. :)

Seriously I LOVE my D30 and have not ran in to the limitations, save for low light focusing. And that can be over-come with a little work.

Take care,
