Hello,
it's not only the camera & his qualities that count but also the wallet.
(mine :-))

It's not difficult to find a good camera but it is to find a decent one for a decent price!

What if I want a min.2MP(or more) with decent batteries and with SD or CF card. Not the top of the tops but one that's sufficient!
I want to take pics of cars, persons, landscapes,...
I do not want to make movies or become a pro!!
Just to have nice pics-memories of things I did and saw!
Am I asking too much?
Here, in Belgium, HP is lowering its prices:
Photosmart 620:299€
Photosmart 720:399€
These are here reviewed as insufficient.

What do you boys and girls think?

Do you have suggestions or should I wait until my wallet has grown?

Thx in advance!

I'm a bit leery about the Photosmarts. Check out the entry-level Canons: the only one I know to any degree is the A40, and it's a remarkable little camera for the price -- excellent image quality and control in its class. The A line has also just been updated -- see Phil's camera database.

Have you looked at the PhotoSmart 850?
For more manual control the Sharp 4MP comes with a Canon Lens.
see profile for links.

If you can find a sony 707 for a decent price (ur getting close), they take amazing photos. Just look at some of the galleries here. I've seen some on ebay for

Good luck.

Ditto to Petteri,

I owned a Canon A20 for a year and half now (A40's predecessor) and couldn't have been happier with its 1) consistency 2) easy-to-use features 3) affordability 4) reliabilty and 5) using AA batteries and CF cards. Please take a look at my samples at:

A40 could be had in the U.S. for US$249; should be less euros since the exchange rate now is in euro's favor.

Yes, indeed, the A40 gets good recommendations but 250€?? No, I don't think so! I've seen it for around 350€!
