How good is digital?

Compared to the best 35mm cameras? I just read through a very thorough analysis that finally answers the question for me.

Digital cameras in $1000 range have about 60% of the resolution of the best 35mm films cameras. Surprisingly, the Canon D60 and Nikon D100 only get you to about 70%. Canon EOS-1Ds at $8000 finally matches the best film results.

It is hard going, but just a brilliant piece of work. Understanding MTF has clarified so many issues for me....its good stuff.

Better lucky than smart. The more shots I take, the luckier I get.
