I agree with many others that "don't get it because it requires top technique" is poor advice.

I think it is a very negative way to look at things, and often used to either blame the camera and not the photographer, or by those seeking to justify their own purchase decisions.

When I went from the D90 to the D7000, I had to improve my technique. I got better, my photos got better. Going to the D800/D800E from the D7000 is similar. We learn, we adapt, we all have the capability of improving.

Another way of putting it is, if the D800/D800E punishes sloppy technique more ... well, time to suck it up and stop being sloppy.

And when you get it right, the rewards are great.
