400mm on the NX200 (many big pix!)
If there was a contest "Weirdest Camera & Lens Combo" this would be my entry. This dieselpunky looking monstrosity consists of (right to left):
Mamiya 105-210mm F4.5 ULD zoom
Vivitar 2X teleconverter
M645 to Canon EOS adapter
EOS to Samsung NX adapter
the puny Samsung NX200.
The whole system is extremely heavy, unusable handheld and hardly usable on a tripod. The teleconverter is the weakest link and I put it on just for a show. Infinity focus cannot be achieved unless the lens is stopped down to F8 (which makes 420mm F16 equivalent) and the subject is very bright and sharp. Most of the pictures turned out blurry, here is the best one:
However, with the 150mm/F3.5 prime lens, the same TC makes a pretty decent 300mm F11:
The quality without TC is much better. Here are some full resolution pics at 200mm F8 (7-9 meg each):
And finally a comparison between the Samsung 50-200mm and the Mamiya zoom at the longest end. The pictures speak for themselves!
P.S. The first photo was shot with the Sony NEX-F3, without flash or reflector. Note excellent dynamic range, here's what Samsung should learn from Sony!
