I have sold my 12mm f2 simply because it performed no better than the zoom.

THAT , I find very difficult to believe

I can second the observation, the 12-35mm is so good that it is hard to justify keeping the 2.0/12mm .

Indeed. Yet, when shooting a wide view city scape pano the other night I found the flare from bright close lights and rendering of points of light throughout were better resolved with the 12/2. The flare wasn't all that bad, but it wasn't evident using the 12/2. Ghosting and star effects in general with urban night shooting are rather funky with the 9-18, better with the 12-35, but best with the 12/2. FWIW.
