So I think I broke my camera...

I'm not going to go into too many details mostly because i'm pretty sure of the answer, but here we go:
I have 2 camera bodies. A 60d and a 350d. I've had the rebel for about 7 years, and the 60d for a few months...luckily (if I can even call it luck), it was the 350d that appears to be broken.
Situation: I was shooting a black tie event and needed two bodies. It was a low light event, so I threw on my two old flashes on each body. They are Vivtar thyristor 2500's. On my 60d I put a Wein Safe Synch for, well, safety sake. I only have one, so I like my 350d go without one.
I did some test shots with my 350d, and on one of the test shots with the flash, the shutter seemed to work, but it got frozen after the shutter blinds closed. I tried to turn off the camera, but it stayed on. When I removed the battery, the mirror dropped down and the camera appeared to be "reset". A few subsequent shots showed that nothing was wrong.
Fast forward an hour and i'm in the middle of a 400 person event. I've got my super wide 10-20mm on my 350d to get some nice wide angle shots. Camera wont turn on. Changed the battery, changed the CF card, even took out the little button battery...nada.
I've used these flashes "naked" on my camera bodies before, and they have worked. I generally placed the safe synch on it for, again, safety sake, but couldnt due it this time.
So...i'm guessing that my camera is dead? I have a good understanding of electronics, and I realize that if a circuit blew somewhere, it may be pretty futile to try and find it and repair it, especially considering how the market value of one of those things should realistically be only 1 or 2 hundred dollars, body only.
Thoughts? Suggestions?
