300d (Digital Rebel) vs 600d (Rebel T3i): Older one much more faithful to real life

I enjoy taking pictures, mostly JPGs in creative mode. I had the Canon EOS 300d for a number of years and have always been more than happy with its performance in daylight conditions. Still, understandably, it is very slow and the display is almost useless.

Anyway, at last I decided to get the 600d and experience betterr low light performance, speed and display.

It is, of course, much lighter and easier to work with the 600d and the pictures are good but, to be honest, I was not blown away and decided to compare them with ones from the 300d. See the two shots below.

I do not know if I am universally right, but I like the colors and contrast of the 300d much better! They are much closer to the real ones. The ones on the 600d are not natural at all and the contrast is pretty washed out too.

Personally, I am very disappointed and am considering to resell my new 600d and not my faithful 300d.

What do you think, is there apossibility to set up the 600d in such a way as to get at least similar results directly out of the camera? Postprocessing on the PC is not really an option.

I would be glad to hear any comments on the comparison, as well as practical hints.
