D800 weird card swapping experience
I have, since new, had a CF card of 32Gb and an SD card of 16 Gb in my D800.
Reported storage capacity on the top LCD has always been 400 for the CF and 197 for the SD (yes, I know it is no rocket science and that the cards in reality will hold more shots). This is for RAW only.
Today I toook out the cards and put in a couple of older CF cards just to see if there would be any difference in performance, one 4 Gb and then an 8 Gb card.
I saw no difference in write times or other performance. All well.
But on remounting my ordinary (see above) cards, the reported storage capacity now is 589 for the 32 Gb CF card and 256 for the SD card!
And further, when in LV the lag between shots is now reduced by
With the same settings...
What´s going on, I mean it´s a huge difference. I know capacity numbers are normally conservative, but now they´re up by more than 40%? And less LV lag?
And the only thing I did was to test older, smaller cards.
