Which end of the telephoto zoom range is used most often?

Hello Forum, photographers often recommend a 70-200mm 2.8 lens and I was wondering if a survey has ever looked at which part of that 70 to 200 mm zoom range is most frequently used. How many people find themselves constantly up in the long end of the zoom range and vice versa or are most photographers using the full zoom range zooming in and out for various purposes? I think my tendency is to use the longer end of to zoom range more frequently so I am looking at the Sigma 120-300mm in comparison with 70 or 80 to 200mm lenses. I like the extra reach of the 120-300, but would I miss not having a 70mm option? Thank you.
