Not only are people willing to pay more for a camera with the same sensor and more features but they are willing to pay more for a camera with fewer features and an older sensor. When the Nikon D7000 was released everyone thought the D300s was dead because the D7000 offered more features and a newer 16mp sensor, etc -- a lot of people still bought the D300s because it had specific features that were important to them like better AF, buffer, build quality, etc.
