We have been here before. When Nikon brought out the D3200 the A77 was, so at least one poster never stopped telling us, now way over priced.

The Canon analogy is a good one. They basically used their 18mp sensor across the range. Why bother with a 7D over a much cheaper camera with the same sensor? Because of the other features of the camera - obviously.

Realistically, the A99 has such a massive wealth of features compared to the stripped-down D600 it's not a fair fight at all.

Exactly. The same applied to the D3200 and A77. Many more features on the A77 which should have apparently become free overnight due the arrival of the D3200.
