Upgrade from D90 to D600: Is this a deal breaker?

If this question has been addressed, I apologize. I have not seen it.

I was ready to upgrade from my D90 to the D600. I have most of the money saved.

However, I found out that in DX mode, the resolution drops to 10mp. 4 of my 5 lenses are DX lenses. I have the 18-200 Nikkor, the Tamron 28-75, Nikkor 35mm f/1.8 and 10.5mm fisheye. It will be awhile before I save up for any of the good, expensive, FX lenses. I have rented them from time to time.

For now, the only fx lens I have is the Nikkor 50mm f/1.4.

I can't see shelling out the cash and getting the D600, to go down from 12mp to 10, using 4 of my 5 lenses. Does this make sense? Will there be a noticeable, even if small, reduction in image quality??

I may wait and save for the D800. THe DX crop mode on the D800 I believe is 15mp.

If Nikon is trying to get DX users to upgrade to FX with the D600, shouldn't DX mode at least equal the D90 or d7000, in terms of mp?
