I usually do very minor adjustments ... mainly just on exposure, I leave all the other sliders most of the time alone. I try to get my picture right when taking them. In terms of white balance, it try to use ExpoDisc for CWB on the camera. If for some reason I don't make use of it, yes, I do adjust that then in SPP.

If there are any changes done to an X3F file, I save them back to the file. I also delete the pictures that I don't like and flag the ones I do like. Once I am done with a set of images I export the flagged ones to TIFF. Note I always keep the original X3F files.
I haven't automated this process as I prefer to check every picture.

Then I open Apple Aperture and import the TIFFs, add Metadata and organize them. This is where Apple Aperture really shines.
