Brando Red Dot Sight
Earlier there was a thread of the Panasonic site concerning this Red Dot sight
While the sight is very good for anyone interested in shooting birds or planes the hot shoe adapter has problems. The back screw doesn't engage the flange with sufficient force to lock the rail in place and as a result the rail will wiggle.
There is very simple and expensive solution. There are two locking nuts on the adapter. One to lock the device to the hot shoe and the other, in theory, to hold the rail in place. It doesn't work.
However if you place a drop of Krazy Glue® on rail where the locking nut meets it, then turn the locking nut to the rail, it will form a strong bond. Note: Turning the locking nut may twist the rail out of position but you will have a few minutes to move it back before the glue begins to set. Don't worry about getting it exactly centered as any error can be corrected with the adjustment screws.
I would advise you to let the glue set for 24 hours before using the sight.
Photography has a lot in common with pipe smoking.
There is far more fiddling around with the equipment than there ever is in using it!
