Should I upgrade my camera or my lens?

Re: D600

After you've accepted the fact that you likely don't "need" to upgrade to improve your photography, I understand you "want" to upgrade and therefore want opinions on what we would do. Nothing wrong with that, most of my gear falls more in the "want" than "need" category but I don't need anyone's approval to spend my money where I want to.

Based on what I've seen you comment in this thread, I think you should go D600 over the 24-70 as you would likely see more significant difference for the money. One advantage shooting plays is that your 70-200 will now have a wider field of view and may be "wide enough". I have a 50-150 on DX and can say that it is a big help being able to go 20 mm wider at events like this. The video is much better too and you might want to shoot some video of your daughter's plays. I might consider taking the 11-16 on the D90 to plays also if I wanted UWA shots. Reily's suggestion of swapping that lens out sounds like a good one if you go the FX route.

One additional note is that I own the 24-70 and it is my most used lens.

I have a Nikon D90 and the following lenses:

Nikon 70-200mm f/2.8G IF-ED AF-S VR
Nikon 18-200mm f/3.5-5.6G AF-S VR
Nikon 24-85mm f/3.5-4.5 AF-S G ED-IF
Nikon 50mm f/1.8D AF
Nikon 35mm f/1.8G AF-S DX
Tokina 11-16mm f/2.8 AT-X 116 Pro DX

I'm considering getting either the D600 or the Nikon 24-70mm f/2.8 lens. Which do you think would be a "better" addition to my equipment and why? I know it's a bit of an open-ended question but I'd appreciate your opinions.
