Re: DNG?

If an X3F file is converted to DNG then you're losing ... the X3F metadata.

What is "X3F metadata"?

SPP, if not the analog-to-digital conversion in the Foveon camera itself, produces an array of R,G,B integer values, one triple per pixel. Presumably, the X3F file also contains a few parameters such as the camera white balance setting. All the information can be in a DNG or a 16-bit TIF file format.

M.R. wants a DNG so other raw converters can read it. Many of us would be pleased with an improved batch capability in SPP: don't even open SPP, just drag a folder over the SPP icon, and it writes a TIF file for each X3F file.

I feed the TIF (from a lowly but magnificent DP2) into Raw Therapee, which works on TIFs as well as DNGs, and Picture Window Pro, sometimes directly into PWP.
