Does the new Fuji XF 18-55mm lens make the 18mm f/2 obsolete?

MTF doesn't (to my knowledge at least) consider the way a lens handles distortions and other problems, it's more of a resolution and contrast measurement. So until the zoom is out, and you can compare these other issues, it's hard to say.

On the other hand, most of these issues (geometric distortion, chromatics, etc.) can get corrected in software, so this is a bit less important, although there are usually artifacts from the correction process.

If the zoom truly is better optically than the 18mm, I may change, but I do like the form factor an awful lot. The 14mm is much more interesting to me (damn Zeiss for making me think about waiting for the distagon—I have the 18mm distagon (FF) and it is a joy.).
