No, it's not that simple. I want to see a real test: maybe 1 cross point at -3ev is better than 9 at -1ev. And that's not even my point.

My point was and still is that none of these 2 cameras avoids the focus&recompose problem. I've never had any problem with my 7-year old 1 cross point in 5D; it has always been perfect (even with the shallow DOF of the 35 1.4). The outer points are almost always wrong. That's why I don't really care for centered points: I'm already well served by the one in the 5D. My only mis-focused pictures are the ones where I had to focus&recompose.

For the picts I take, would I choose 1 -3ev vs 9 -1ev? I don't know.

Would I pay more to have 4 more cross points on the outside? Yes
