I do not agree. Look at the metering section of the 1DX:

Same thing with the 1DX. Either there is the metering that is clustered in the middle, or the AF points are clustered in the middle on both 6D and 1DX.

I think there is somhing misrepresented in your picture, and that is that the edges of the VF is represented by the outer white line, not by the edges of the picture underneath...
