You are correct I was referring to ETC mode. The multi-aspect sensor gives different aspect ratios with out cropping it takes the ETC mode to get out past 600mm. I usually use the ETC in M size to go to about 800mm this does lose megapixels just like cropping but gives good composition and exposure and a photo I can still print.
