Worst of Photokina 2012?

Is this the beginning of the end for Hassleblad

Might well be...

... now that photographic performance is dependent of high volume chip foundries and armies of computer programmers, Is the MF market largely Anachronistic and denuded by the far faster development of smaller format systems?

Smaller niches can be lucratiove if done right. Leica is the most obvious proof to that.

Re branding and stretching sony products into something that might have escaped from an Ikea catalogue looks like the sad death spasm of a once majestic and mighty patriarch. End of and era?

The Lunar 'decoration' is the very first real sign of what to expect and what to come from Hasselblads current owners. Like the M8 a few years back was the very first sign of what to expect and what to come from Leicas current owner.

The difference is striking and alarming ... the money folks from the captal fond that is now controlling the Hasselblad brand are probably very bright and smart --- but they simply don't have the understanding of the business they're in with Hasselblad.

Rebranding an electronic commodity almost TWO years after its initial launch (yes, Nex7 was launched in the summer of 2011, whereas the Lunar is expected to arrive in the sprong of 2013) is a very bad strategic platform.
