The Leica Look? Uh, that LEGEND was created over frames of photographic negative film. The film was the sensor, and EVERYBODY was using the same films

I really only want to clarify one thing. In the film days EVERY brand was DIFFERENT.

Fuji films really didn't get along well with Leica lenses at all. The colours are far too rich.

The best partner was Agfa, which led me to think that Leica probably tested their lenses on Agfa films. The colours are so accurate that when I held up the photo next to the real object, the difference in colour was almost un-noticeable.

Kodak was in the middle. I think most people, when they talk about the Leica look, probably refer to Kodak films.

The above is based on my personal experience, but you will find many posts on the internet on this subject.
