Early Quick Take on New 18-55mm Kit Lens from CNET Asia
It's a pretty limited review, but seems to bode well for the new kit lens. Unless you only like primes, this seems like a good buy at $400 over the price of the body-only X-E1. For X-Pro 1 owners, it's probably a closer call.
Shooting a little with the lens--we were unfortunately stuck with a small pot of artificial flowers, a friendly booth assistant and an SD card as subjects--we found it comparable with most 18-55mm kits lenses in terms of speed. However, images were very sharp, and the F4 aperture at the long end does give a more pleasing background blur than most kit lenses.
