Glad to see that you were able to work through it and get something that you like using the tools at hand!

Hi all, thanks for your comments!

Tonight I had another go at this. First of all, I learned why the A720 photo was well exposed and the 650D was too exposed: in non-manual mode (such as P which I usually use), the camera won't expose for longer than 1 second. ISO 200 is auto maximum (ISO HI goes to 800). I had read about this "limitation" a few days ago. When I tried these settings in the 650D, the shot was already finely exposed without any need for exposure correction. Here's how it looks:

This was already much better than before. As for the colours, I went RAW and tuned it to 2500K. I did some minor chromatic aberration correction but it only shows in some details. And here's the final result:

But, while using DPP, I noticed it had a feature that tuned WB based on a photo position. And if I placed the target over the horizon, WB was quite ok! So, I went outside again, took a photo of said location and used it to set the camera's WB. Took a photo with it and...

... which I don't think is so bad. It's better than using a piece of white paper, at least for this particular landscape/location.

Cheers!!

When you get down to the nuts and bolts of photography, the results depend on the 'nut' behind the camera!
