Antiquated audio format in Sony SLTs

In today's world of exponentially increasing storage capacity, the continued implementation of Dolby Digital audio compression in Sony SLT cameras is absolutely laughable. All other respectable camera manufacturers have used Linear PCM for years, not only allowing lossless audio quality, but indeed reducing system complexity. Until the boffins at Sony finally realise that lossy audio recording in prosumer models is and never has been acceptable, I believe many videographers unwilling to carry a separate audio recording device will simply concede to composing on the lousy LCD screen of their Canon or Nikon DSLR, sacrificing the splendid utility of an OLED viewfinder.

On a side note, 28Mbps video at 1080p60 represents a 34:1 compression ratio, perhaps acceptable for a final rendering but definitely not for source content.
