I agree with Mike & Ken. Back ground is too "busy". You had another 100mm or so to play with & isolate the player, so less cropping is necessary. The f/4 70-200 is a great lens for football [soccer] I use mine on a 7D for local amateur rugby & football matches, usually concentrating on the goal / try line, in burst mode, to get players in the air. This combo also has a great A/F system, perfect for action shots like yours. It's a great lens. Enjoy it.
