Re: Looking for a camera with NO Video!!!!

Look at the Pentax K-5. It is the APS-C king of IQ and even keeps up with and surpasses some full frame cameras (namely the 5DII).

Yes it has video ability, but I have never once turned the selector to it - I am a stills guy. And it also has a locking button - I have ABUSED my cameras (see this thread for a very in-depth testimonial - http://forums.dpreview.com/forums/readflat.asp?forum=1018&message=42526766 - and scroll down to posts 5 and 6 by me), and I have NEVER. NOT. ONCE. SERIOUSLY. accidentally turned the mode dial even one click. EVER

Yes! Seriously.

I have a very good video cam if I want to shoot video, and personally I don't care for the video quality of digital cameras. I know I can ignore it, but I have accidentally turned the selector on my camera a few times to many and ended up with 10 seconds of video - and lost the shot I was trying to get.

After seeing this thread, I feel like I should take a break from the Internets, to prevent further loss of IQ, and try to recoup my lost IQ points.

Let me know if you ever found your IQ points back...Maybe then you can apply for Mensa!

  • Need affordable weather sealing in a DSLR you can trust?

  • Think there aren't any opportunities to shoot in poor weather, and thus no benefits to weather sealing?

  • Take a look at my deployment to Afghanistan:
