Re: reason for its size

I think the controls are overdone. Who can keep track of five function buttons?
There was also no need to move the mode swith to the seperate dial on the left
and in turn have a new focus mode selector on the back.
The grip seems also overdone, the G2/GH2 grip was sufficient.

I like the second dial and the dedicated ISO/WB buttons though. And all these connections for mic, headphones, wifi take internal space of course. Still, I think it could have been made a bit smaller if some of the unneccessary controls had been skipped.

I find the larger body size is a bit disturbing, but it is no major issue, weight (incl lenses) and lens size is, and that is still fine. But like the OP, I am still waiting for an RF style Panny body. The NEX 6 with the collapsing kit zoom looks very tempting, but the large Sony tele lenses make it a deal breaker.

As for an assessment of the GH3, I think we should not rush into conclusions before we know what it's sensor goes for. If it's equal or better than Oly's new sensors,
fine, if not, major failure on Panny's part.
