G15 Vs ....

I was initially put off by the lack of an articulated LCD; but once I started to compare it to some of it's competitors and my G11, I realized it isn't so bad. Take a look.

G15 28-140 mm f/1.8-2.8
3" fixed LCD, 921k dots, OVF
4.21" x 2.99" x 1.57"
12.42 oz.

G11 28-140 mm f/2.8-4.5
2.8" articulated LCD, 460k dots, OVF
4.41" x 2.99" x 1.89"
13.23 oz.

P7700 28-200 mm f/2.0-4.0
3" articulated LCD
4.69" x 2.87" x 1.97"
13.83 oz.

XZ-2 28-112 mm f/1.8-2.5
3" 920k tilting LCD, optional EVF
4.45" x 2.56" x 1.89"
12.20 oz.

LX7 24-90 mm f/1.4-2.3
3" 920k fixed LCD, optional EVF
4.37" x 2.68" x 1.81"
10.51 oz.
-----------------------------------------------------------
S90 28-105 mm f/2.0-4.9
3" 460k fixed LCD
3.94" x 2.28" x 1.22"
7.45 oz with Franiec grip, 6.95 without

S110 24-120 mm f/2.0-5.9
3" 460k fixed LCD
3.9" x 2.32" x 1.06"
6.95 oz.

RX100 28--100 mm f/1.8-4.9
3" 1,228k fixed LCD
4.02" x 2.32" x 1.42"
8.47 oz.

The G15 is a little taller than the competition; but not as wide and thinner. THe f/1.8-2.8 lens goes to 140 mm; so at 100 mm it will be somewhat faster and certainly as fast as the XZ-2 and at least close to the LX7. It is considerably less bulky than the P7700, and probably faster at 100 mm; and has an OVF. I did not show the Samsung EX-2, or the Fuji X-10, or Fuji XE-1. But you can do that if you've a mind to. In any case, unless you absolutely have to have an articulated LCD, the G15 comes off pretty well.

I also showed the S110 and RX100 compared to my S90, which has the Franiec grip; something the RX100 really needs, as does the S110. I've been very pleased with the S90; so it's probably not a candidate for replacement; but the G11 just might be.
