Not very much new in IQ department
Have others noticed it. I have at least. Check out DXO-mark sensor comparisons, DpReview images and Imaging resource comparometer. There is very little evidence about substantially better IQ with all these new cameras (any manufacturer). And I think the difference will be almost zero when taking real images.
My motivation was to find real reason to upgrade from 550 to something substantially better in low light IQ (equals to better ability use cheaper and smaller slow tele lenses). Not gonna happen!
But I'm not complaining, because I can now buy new lens instead of the body. Maybe the 16-50 mm F 2.8, that would be future proof. But the one I really would like to see is the new 16-80, hope there will be such...
