RX-1 who cares if it's full frame?

The RX-1 looks like a sweet little camera, but I really don't get the hype over it being full frame (other than it's good marketing).

A compact camera with fixed lens (prime or zoom) shouldn't be concerned about full frame sensors, since you won't be adjusting focal length when swapping lenses. I understand that full frame sensors have generally had higher image quality, due in part to large pixel sites, but aps-c senors have come a long way to match image quality of larger sensors. I'm confident that the Sony team understands that full frame is a great marketing stance, and I know the camera will back it up with high quality images, but do we care about full frame in a compact?
