Took our boat over to Pavlov Harbor (east side of Chicagof Island in SE Alaska) last weekend. Saw whales bubble net feeding and brown bears fishing for salmon.

Took these with my 7D and 100-400L. Skies were overcast, and I had to resort to higher ISOs and lower shutter speeds than I would have liked, but still got some shots I'm happy with.

Hope you like them.

Nice Bears! Good shots.

Now.. suggestions...

Editing and displaying your images is important and very difficult. You have a lot of images in the series.... pic your favorite 1 or 2 and show them.... much more effective.
Thanks for the feed back. If you were to pick two favorites, which would they be?

My favority ones are the second (whales) and the last one (bear). Good job.

You just hit about every highlight that I would like to see on a future trip to Alaska. Great photos! Beautiful place! It doesn't get any better.

Thanks for sharing.

Wonderful series - I'm one jealous nature and wildlife photographer.

If you don't mind me asking what did you use for noise reduction in post? I'm considering a 7D if they don't come out with something better that I can afford before January.
Thanks! All PP was done on Lightroom 4. Although I also have a 5D3, I still prefer my 7D for wildlife.

That's what I wanted to hear ;-) The 5D3 is tempting but expensive and losing the 1.6 crop factor is going to make my 100-400 feel short. I'm not getting a 500mm or 600mm lens anytime soon (meaning ever). Thanks!

Beautiful images of a stunning part of the world!
What I would give to have that kind of wildlife available to photograph...
Thanks! Well, you can always move to SE Alaska and buy a boat . . .

Nice images. :) I too use the 7D and 100-400 L IS USM combination for my wildlife trips int to tiger/lion reserves.

Beautiful! I like the ones when the bear is catching fishes.

Why make it simple when it can be complicated?

Nice pics. I prefer the second.

Awesome shots! And I agree that you should be more selective in choosing pictures. Did you crop the images? It seems so noisy.

Yep, I'll second that. 2 very nice photos too.
